Carbon Poker Review

Carbon Poker is a United States friendly poker room, and worldwide for that matter too. Carbon is a part of the Merge Poker Network, which provides a good deal of rakeback deals, as well as a good deal of traffic and opponents for all players’ experience at the tables. The poker site offers a good variety of poker game variations, considering its relatively fresh start in the poker industry (2007) – yet, doing quite well thanks to the network, to the increasing reputation, and to the massive promotions, offers and great service.

Bonuses and Rewards

Carbon Poker’s initial deposit bonus is an attractive 100% up to $600 cash. Like most poker rooms, players will have to join Carbon and open their account there, fund their account by depositing money, and playing some real money poker games. As you play, you will be accumulating poker points (easy to accumulate by the way), which is what is used to calculate the bonus given to you.

If that were not enough to start with, new depositing players will also receive 14 days entry to Carbon’s daily $500 New Depositor freerolls.

Promotions

As it was mentioned above, one of Carbon’s success points so far is their nice selection of promotions and the prizes given out on them – considering the room is relatively new. For instance, Carbon is one of those sites that likes to offer seasonal promotions, such as for football. The promotion is called the ‘NFL Pick The Winner’ promotion, and all you would have to do is pick your choices of winning teams for each week’s games, and if you win, you will get freeroll tournament entries – if not more prizes.

Not only that, but they make charity more conscience and fun for players, by providing help such as at the ‘Monthly Charity Tournament’ where the buy-in to the tournaments is simply $2 donation to their specific charity help – and they even give out a prize to the tournament; It is definitely great to see this type of thinking and action at poker rooms. Jackpot

As oppose to many poker rooms, Carbon does not offer the standard Royal Flush jackpot unfortunately, but they do offer a lot of other unique promotions, and they do have a Royal Flush bonus, which pays out pretty well, just not a jackpot.

That said, Carbon does have a Bad Beat Jackpot, which is not exposed on their promotions page, but rather in the features section. The jackpot is pretty much given to the victim of the bad beat, with some smaller percentages given to the winner of the hand, and to the rest of the players on that particular table only – and only for jackpot tables too. Pretty simply and pretty sweet for all players regardless of winning and/or losing.

Software

Carbon’s software is shared with the Merge Gaming Network, which overall has clean and strong graphics. It has eight (8) multi-tabling capabilities, and even though graphic-wise it is pretty strong, the text is somewhat difficult to read when you have more than four (4) tables open at a time. Overall though, the software is reliable, clean, and with descent features, such as the rabbit hunt (seeing the turn and river card if you have folded), as well as customizable avatars, history info, time bank, late registration, and so forwards.

Traffic & Competition

The player base at Carbon poker is relatively loose, however, they still do have the good amount of savvier players who are attracted by the promotions, the rakeback offers, the tougher poker games available at the room, and from the other Merge network rooms too. That said, Carbon/Merge occupy the 23rd position in worldwide traffic to the site/tables, but do not fear that position, they do have descent numbers to keep the tables busy, at least at the most popular ones such as Texas Holdem, and Omaha.

As for support, Carbon’s support relies on email, with very good response times, and 24 hour live chat available too… great for those late night poker games. They also provide a good amount of FAQ’s that should take care of a lot of the usual poker issues and inquiries.
